MORESBY South Rugby League has named its A-grade, Under-20 and women’s squads for next month’s Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League Southern Confederation Championships at the Santos National Football Stadium.
Coaching director Bagelo Solien said the squads kicked off training yesterday at Moresby South Stadium and would represent his league as Moresby Southern Blacks.
Former national women’s team coach Solien said his squads would be competitive.
“The men’s teams have a good mixture of players,” he said.
“They’re ready for the challenge.”
Solien the championships would provide his women an opportunity to showcase their skills at the regional level.
“Our women are raw, so the exposure will be great for development,” he said.
Solien warned that players would face omission if they missed more than three training sessions.
“We all should be committed and disciplined on and off the field,” he said.
Meanwhile, Solien stressed the need for players to respect each other.
“It will help players bond as a unit,” he said.
“We should be also proud that our local MP, Justin Tkatchenko, is supporting Moresby Southern Blacks,” said Solien ahead of the championships.
