IMTERMIDIATE (Under-21) matches for the Moresby South Motu-Koita netball tournament began on Saturday with 20 teams across five villages taking part.
Tournament director Asi Mou told The National that the tournament would run for three months with officials backed to deliver a successful second season.
“At this point in the competition, we have our local umpires from the villages and that’s a big pleasure for those working behind the scenes,” she said.
“We also have Oti Lasagavibau from the national team’s coaching staff who has been helping out with the running of our tournament and officiating.
“She is another big addition to the tournament because her involvement will help to oversee the players we selected to represent the Motu-Koita villages.”
Mou said the full roster for teams would be included next week onwards with a few villages completing their matches.
“We have about five villages from Moresby South starting the tournament with us here with about 20 teams all having their games this weekend.”
