THE Prima Huon Volleyball Association in Lae will start its proper season this Saturday with a total of 46 teams vying for the 2017 titles.
This season, 14 teams will compete in A-grade, 14 in the A-reserves and 18 in B-grade.
President Frank Joe and his three women executives have  focused on the progressive growth of the association since taking office three years ago.
Their commitment has ensured that the association has grown from a six-club tournament to the 22-strong competition it is now, with 460 teams and 450-plus members.
This growth has been possible through the support of their sponsor Prima Smallgoods.
The executives’ hope during their tenure to break the dominance of Port Moresby and return the national volleyball crowns to Morobe.
Meanwhile, the association’s junior volleyball tournament will be held over the Easter weekend.
All clubs have been urged to pay their 2017 affiliation fee of K200 to qualify their junior teams.
A total of 32 teams will battle for the Prima Junior Cup.
