THE Morobe Football Association (MFA) is an associate member of the Papua New Guinea Football Association (PNGFA) and has participated in PNGFA-sanctioned competitions over the last two years, according to MFA president Peter Seske.
Seske, pictured, clarified that following claims that MFA was not a member of PNGFA.
“MFA is registered as an associate member of PNGFA for the second year running,” Seske said.
“The claims do not help football and stalls the good work by PNGFA.”
Seske said MFA provided the majority of National Soccer League clubs in the likes of Toti City, FC Morobe Wawens, Buang FC and Besta PNG United FC.
He said the MFA women’s team won the 2017 Besta Cup and the men’s team bagged this year’s title.
Seske said NSL champions City and runners-up Wawens had qualified for the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Champions League.
“If it’s the national title and NSL titles that concern other associations, then those complaining should challenge us and try to win them,” he said.
Seske said both clubs had shown interest to host their Champions League matches and that everyone should be showing their support.
“OFC has received their expression of interest to play host,” he said.
