MOROBE’S flexible and open distance education (Fode) programme has recorded its highest number of students accepted to other institutions this year.
Morobe Fode coordinator Nemica Jacob said 22 students had been accepted by the International Training Institute (ITI) for various courses next year.
She said this success followed the college’s first ever mini Fode career expo hosted from Oct 4-8.
Jacob said the expo was staged to get students who were sitting for their grade 12 examinations to apply to institutions instead of waiting for their results.
The mini-expo saw six institutions, including ITI and Datec, set up booths to display their organisation and various courses to Fode students.
“ITI and Datec both carried out entry tests then which saw about 100 interested students sitting for it with 22 accepted by ITI,” Jacob said.
“We’ve picked up on this and will do a bigger and better one next year and also invite our registered study centres and correspondence study centres to join our students so they all have a variety of options to choose from.”
Jacob said Fode students studied the same curriculum as secondary schools allowing them to apply to universities and colleges.
