THE merging of the Morobe health authority and public health system in the province is yet to be completed an official says.
Health authority chief executive officer Dr Kipas Binga said the merging in the province started in June 20, 2019 and was continuing.
One of the main areas that Binga touched on was staff under the merging arrangement.
He said before that, the number of staff was low but with the merging, staff ceiling had gone up to more than 1,800.
“A submission was made to the Department of Personnel Management (DPM) two weeks ago in this regard. Some positions that were created were either downgraded or upgraded and renamed to suit the new facilities at Angau Hospital.”
Binga said after the positions were refined, the health authority had about 900 positions yet to be occupied in the new structure.
