THE claps and the smiles on their faces told the story of the Nowa Primary School students in Markham Valley more than 110km from Lae.
The school was one of the recipients of Bank South Pacific Go-Green promotion and the students were witnessing the delivery of sports equipment by the BSP team headed by corporate sponsorship manager Rosemary Mawe.
It was a blessing in disguise for the school located along the Highlands Highway, which apart from lacking infrastructure development, also needed for sports gear.
Senior teacher, Paul Kewa, relied on the advice of a colleague to get assistance.
Kewa was in Lae looking for sponsors to help buy volleyball nets and balls for the student and was advised to try the BSP Go-Green promotion.
Despite taking it upon himself to carry out the promotion with the students at the school, he kept hoping for a positive outcome.
It took a phone call from BSP early this week to make Kewa realise that the school, especially the students were going to benefit.
Head teacher Rex Lapu said the Go-Green promotion was embraced by the school.
The BSP sports pack includes two balls for rugby, soccer, volleyball, basketball, AFL and netball as well as 20 tennis balls and a volleyball net.
