The Assemblies of God Church in Lae received K100,000 for a new church building during the launch of the Morobe plan and policy last Wednesday.
The money would be used for the new structure at Kamkumung Kona, Peter Block.
The old building had deteriorated, with certain parts eaten up by termites.
Snr Pr Clement Vitikut, from the AOG Kamumung church, received a cheque to that amount presented by Morobe Governor Luther Wenge during the plan and policy launch ceremony.
Jerubabel Nakayuwi, the assistant pastor of the Kamkumung AOG church, said they started raising funds last September and had collected K130,000.
“We greatly appreciate the Morobe government’s assistance.
“Our old church structure was built in 1996 and was in dire need for repairs,” Nakayuwi said.
Stressing on the provincial government’s motto of “in Anutu we trust”, Governor Wenge said the government would continue fully support all churches.
“Our current church building seats between 200 and 300 heads per Sunday. With the new building, we intend to host 500 heads,” Nakayuwi said.
Planning and mobilisation for the project would take place in next month.

  • That’s wonderful supporting churches. It plays important role in people’s lives for their well-being both physically and spiritually. My new church building in Bulolo is incomplete, walls cement floor, electrical wirings not yet and needs financial support to finish constructing it. I appreciate Morobe Provincial government for support to A.O.G church.
