MOTHER Lucy Mupue is the winner of a Lenovo laptop in a City Pharmacy Ltd (CPL) competition in Goroka, Eastern Highlands.
Mupue plans to keep the laptop for her 11-month-old son Charwe Judah when he grows up and attends school.
“I will keep the laptop safe until my 11-month old son is old enough to go to school,” she said.
“For now I will let him watch cartoon movies on the laptop.”
Mupue was happy when she received the call from CPL that she had won.
“I thank CPL especially the manageress Maria Teresa who presented the laptop to me today (yesterday),” she said.
Mupue is from Kapakamarigi village in Lower Bena, Eastern Highlands.
Teresa said it was one way CPL gave back to its customers. Customers had to spend more than K50 in any CPL outlet to enter the draw.
The draw will be done after every two to three weeks this year.

  • A nice gesture by Lucy to keep the laptop until her son is of school age and can use the laptop. However, by the time her son does attend school, the laptop technology will have advanced. Someone please explain this to Lucy so she is made aware of how laptop and PC technology is advancing and changing in dynamics, just as smart phones are.

  • Absolutely. Mom should use the laptop now–assuming she has electricity, access to WiFi, and familiarity with computers (otherwise, someone to help).
She is going to be very sad in the future when she finds updates to her computer have not been made and her computer is no longer compatible with numerous new programs, including printers.
Yes, she really should be assigned (?) someone to explain and teach her about the very fast, planned obsolesence of technology. If she used it now, as a sort of representative of her son, she could learn so many things that she will be able to pass on to her son.

  • Lucy ,looks like an educated woman but is talking like a primitive from the stone age.
shes talking like she never sees the face of money,,,who is she trying to impress????CPL or PNG?
My best advice sell the laptop, get some money and make more money out off that money for your sons future,,
    All the best ,
