THE cases of Adam Chin Cheah and his mother Marilyn Espolong were adjourned to Oct 14 for submissions on sufficiency of evidence after their police hand-up briefs were served on them yesterday.

“Talk to your lawyer and file appropriate submissions in response to what’s on the hand-up brief.
Cheah, 18, of mixed Malaysia and Philippines parentage was charged with sexual penetration of a girl in a hotel in Port Moresby on June 22, 2019.
They were both juveniles at that time.
Cheah is on bail with conditions that he remains with his parents at their home at the yacht club in Konedobu until his case was completed, attend court at all times, not to interfere with any possible witnesses and not commit any offence while on bail.
Espolong is charged with acting illegally to have her son (Cheah) released from custody and is also out on bail.
She was arrested by Det Roman Anton of the Gerehu police station, but refused bail at Boroko Police Station.
Det Anton was then summoned by Magistrate Ganaii to explain why Espolong’s bail had been refused.
Det Anton told the court on June 24, that he had not been consulted in relation to Espolong’s bail.
Cheah and Espolong’s bails were extended with the same conditions.
