THE Motu-Koita Lagatois 2021 Digicel Cup bid has been given a boost with Pepsi coming on board as a sponsor.
Pacific Industries, under the Pepsi brand, presented the team jerseys to the Lagatois at the National Capital District Commission office in Port Moresby yesterday.
Lagatois patron and NCD Governor Powes Parkop thanked Pepsi for the support.
He said the support of a global brand like Pepsi had given them confidence that the Lagatois were ready to join the country’s premier rugby league competition.
“Pepsi is a global brand that supports international icons in music, sports and so many other sectors,” Parkop said.
“I am happy that they have supported our local team.
“The Lagatois will be competitive against other teams.”
Pacific Industries general manager Ashlon Chue said they were proud to support the Lagatois as they believed in rugby league.
“We are proud and honoured to come on board and support the Lagatois this year,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Lagatois will join the Port Moresby Vipers and travel to Mendi tomorrow to play in the Southern Highlands Hope Cup.
Vipers will play against the Mendi Muruks while the Lagatois will face a Mendi Rugby League select side.
The Lagatois were confirmed earlier to play the Nanes of Koroba Lake Kopiago, but late changes were made this week.
