HAVING a constitution and a strategic plan is a requirement for any rugby league association to be recognised by the national body, PNG Rugby Football League.
The Motu Koita Rugby League Association which was recognised last year have announced the finalisation of their constitution and five-year strategic plan yesterday in Port Moresby.
In attendance was MKRLA chairman Dai Boe, pictured, and competition manager Lakani Oala.
“It is a requirement to finalise our constitution as an affiliate to the PNGRFL and we have finalised it with help from our lawyers and all 16 clubs that took part last year,” Boe said.
“We will use the constitution this year and I believe it will help us develop our league in an effective way.” Boe said the absence of a constitution and strategic plan was the main reason for their silence and after working behind the scenes to produce the two significant papers, the league was now ready to venture into a bright future.
“With the establishment of our five-year strategic plan and the constitution, I am sure it will be an exciting season for Motu Koitabu Rugby League.
“The club affiliates which makes up our legislative council have already approved after it was amended so now it’s a matter of final administration work before we can use it.”
Boe said that one of the interesting things about the MKRLA constitution was the board composition.
“We allow honorary membership and directorship which includes one of the National Capital District Governor’s office, one from the Central Governor’s office, one for business, one for the sponsor’s representative and a legal representative,” Boe said.
“We’ve also given Justin Tkatchenko an honourary role to be part of the board as well since he is the member for Moresby South so there seven directors including myself as chairman.
Boe said they were looking at starting their season in April and would be using the Sir Hubert Murray’s second oval with the main stadium to undergo construction.
“We are also looking at having home and away fixtures this year so some teams may have their own venues which we can utilise.”
