IMPROVING the quality of education in the Gazelle electorate is a key priority for local MP Jelta Wong.
This includes introducing e-libraries at schools in the district that would help to stimulate children’s interest in reading.
Wong, who is the Civil Aviation Minister, presented cheques to three schools earlier this week.
Gunanur Primary School in Toma Vunadidir LLG received K10,000 that would go towards further developing its e-library that was established under a community initiative.
Vunapalading Primary School received K5,000 and Lungalunga Primary School got K5,000.
Walmetki Primary School will get K5,000. Wong praised Gunanur Primary school and the surrounding community for the initiative to set up an e-library instead of waiting for Government intervention.
Teachers and students at Vunapalading and Lungalunga were excited that the Gazelle MP has committed to setting up a similar education tablet programme so students can access e-library for their research and more importantly to find the love of reading.
Other organisations that received cheques include Rasimen Catholic church in Livuan Reimber LLG (K3,000) for its church building.
Still to receive K5,000 is Tavanadidir cooperative in central Gazelle LLG that would assist in establishing cocoa nurseries.
