MP assures 6,000 flood victims of assistance

A RECENT flood damaged food gardens, cash crops and homes affecting more than 6,000 people in eight villages along the Asaro River in Daulo, Eastern Highlands.
Daulo MP Pogio Ghate who visited the villages assured the people that they would be assisted.
A report submitted to the Daulo administration revealed that 6,489 people lost food gardens and coffee trees which were buried under the sand and debris.
A foot bridge was damaged and water supply to Kwongi in the Upper Asaro local level government was affected.
A villager at Amaiyufa said the flood on Jan 5 was the worst seen there.
It had been raining whole day and into night.
The river level rose by about 10 meters on both banks, he said.
