NORTH Fly MP James Donald has assured the people of Western that the Fly River government and its administration remain unaffected by the recent arrest of administrator Robert Alphonse Kaiyun.
“The provincial administrator’s arrest does no harm to the political unity and stability that the province currently has,” Donald said.
He maintained that the arrest had not caused disunity in the administration as well.
Donald, who is also the leader of PNG’s newest political party, People’s Reform Party (PRP), said the province’s three MPs, as well as the governor and the provincial executive council and assembly members were all focused on continuing to serve the people.
He said the charges against Kaiyun were allegations at the moment and the matter was going through the normal court process.
Donald said whether the allegations were just allegations or not, it was a matter for the courts to decide.
He said, however, in the meantime, Kaiyun had a valid contract that expired next August.
Donald appealed to everyone in Western to remain calm and steadfast, and respect the due court process to determine the case.
He urged public servants in the province to continue to carry out their roles and responsibilities.
