GOROKA MP elect- Aiye Tambua has filed a criminal complaint with police to investigate 800 missing ballot papers for a polling station in Goroka district during polling.
Tambua said he wanted an investigation to find out what happened to 809 ballot papers for the Maninga polling station in the Miminalo local level government (LLG) that went missing.
He said according to Electoral Commission officials, the papers were signed by the appointed presiding officer and were marked and put into the ballot box at Rothmans polling station.
“As Goroka MP, I am very concerned because the constitutional rights of voters was hijacked, this is a criminal matter to be investigated thoroughly so the culprits involved can be brought to justice,” he said. “I wrote to provincial police commander Supt Michael Welly to investigate how the 809 ballot papers were diverted elsewhere.”
