KOKOPO MP Emil Tammur has given a cheque for K10,000 to the Raburua United church building board committee to assist with their project.
Tammur said this during the ground-breaking ceremony for the new church building last Saturday.
The district development authority wanted to assist churches in the district with proper places of worship.
Tammur handed over the funds to church congregations at the Raluana LLG, Ialakua, Bitatita, Malapau outreach mission and Raburua United church.
He told the people of Raburua to be self-reliant.
“Today, we face a lot of issues regarding funding coming from the Government and the district service improvement programme,” he said. “I’m trying my best, as your member, to distribute whatever I have among the four LLGs in the district.”
ENB Governor Nakikus Konga gave 30 Kuanua hymn books to the pastor of the Raburua United church and pledged K10,000 to assist in building the new church building.
“We must put God first as He is the creator of everything,” he said.
