MP launches peace initiative, infrastructure, agriculture projects in district

GOOD Friday was a blessing for the people of Hube local level government in Finschhafen, Morobe, as they witnessed the Hube grand peace rehabilitation and launching of impact projects.
Local MP and Minister for National Planning and Monitoring Rainbo Paita launched the Hube Ring Road (machineries), students’ solar panels, footbridge, ward 1-17 projects, chainsaws, coffee mill, Pindiu market and women’s conference building.
Paita said that coffee was main source of income for the people of Kuwe, Burum Kuat, Mongi and surrounding areas.
He said the farmers were paid K1.50 to K2 per kilo but Agriculture and Livestock Minister John Simon announced that a Government price support programme to increase the price to K5 per kilo.
Paita said the Finschhafen development authority last year received K2mil from the Government, with K1mil going towards the Covid-19 pandemic programme and the remaining million kept for developing Pindiu to be the coffee centre for Hube and Burum Kuat LLG’s.
“The K200,000 given will go straight to the price subsidy support programme and the K1mil will be for building a coffee facility to help the growers in Hube, and we thank Minister Simon and his office for this initiative in supporting farmers.”
