ROADWORK has started in Rabisap, Nawaeb to the Yus local level government (LLG) in Kabwum, Morobe.
It will be the first time a road will be built there.
Construction was made possible through the Kabwum district development authority (DDA) that funded machinery for roads in each of its four LLGs.
Kabwum MP Patrick Basa, who launched the project at Rabisap village on Saturday, said this was part of the dishes plan to build a road from Erap (Rabisap) to Tinangat in Yus. “It’s the job for leaders to commit funds and resources for services to be delivered,” Basa said.
“We must help and support our leaders to be self-reliant. We will be committed to build this road to Tinangat.
“We are doing new roads that the former governments had never made.”
Basa thanked the people of Erap living along the road for allowing them to cut down coffee trees and other crops to allow the road to pass through to Tinangat.
“No proper developments will come unless you start building roads. That’s what we believe in,” he said.
Basa said an excavator came with a dump truck to help with the work.
Basa said he would be working with Nawaeb leaders to help maintain parts of their road towards Kabwum.
He said his plan was to connect all of Kabwum by road and also called on to the provincial government to step in and assist such projects which are significant to the people and the development of the area.
Basa and his DDA had committed K1 million each to the four LLGs of Yus, Komba, Deyamos and Yalumet each year for roadwork.
