SOME churches, schools and health posts in the South Fly district of Western have benefitted from the local MP’s discretionary fund of more than K90,000.
MP Seki Agisa said churches played a vital role in development and providing services to communities.
“I consider partnering with churches because they know the real needs of the communities and they will put the money into its intended use,” he said.
Agisa gave out K95,000 two weeks ago – K45,000 for three church groups, K30,000 for three schools and K20,000 for two health posts – as to help complete projects.
Sigabaduru United Church, Kadawa United and Destiny churches were the beneficiaries. All three are under Kiwai local-level government.
Agisa said the two churches at Kadawa, a coastal village just across Daru Island, will utilise the funds to pipe in fresh water for drinking and cooking from inland.
Schools that have shared K30,000 are elementary schools in Wipim area in the Oriomo-Bituri LLG which are Melvie, Onihe and Wipim. The Wipim health centre and Wim aid post have maintenance work to be done and the money is to be used that and refurbishment, according to Agisa.
