MANUS MP Ronnie Knight yesterday presented two cheques totalling K82,403 to the Pacific Adventist University (PAU) as tuition fees for Manus students.

PAU acting vice-chancellor Dr David Thiele said the payment was the first from an MP from the Islands region for its students attending the university.

“I hope you are not getting your cheques for nothing, because somebody paid for it,” he told the Manus students.

“This cheque represents the blood and sweat from Papua New Guineans who do not know you and when you are called upon by your country and your province for your services, you will deliver.”

Knight said it was his duty as a leader of Manus to tertiary students from the province.

He added that he wanted to see Manus return to its glory days when it produced many of the elites of PNG

The MP also challenged the Manus students to complete their studies and return home to serve their province.
