MOTHERS who are actively involved in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Moresby North East will continue to receive financial assistance, local MP John Kaupa says.
Kaupa said K1 million would be used to empower women and mothers this year.
He made the remarks when addressing the Virtuous Women’s Association at 9-Mile settlement recently.
“Most of the programmes that we are rolling out in the district have been suspended for an indefinite period due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.
“When the state of emergency is lifted next month, projects and programmes will continue to be rolled out in the district but with strict social distancing and health measures put in place by the Health Department.
“One of the important programmes that we are supporting through our district development authority (DDA) resolution is SME through our district services improvement programme (DSIP).”
Kaupa said last year 400 mothers received assistance.
