CENTRAL Bougainville MP Fr Francis Dumarinu says the amended Investment Promotion (IPA) Act guarantees the security of Papua New Guinean business owners.
“This bill protects the people of Papua New Guinea from all forms of exploitation and gives them equal opportunity to participate meaningfully in the development of this country,” he said.
He added that the bill also allowed local investors to be treated equally with foreign investors.
Dumarinu thanked Commerce and Industry Minister Henry Amuli for allowing the amendments to be made to the IPA Act and the Association Incorporations Act.
“It is saving the nation, offering a way forward in terms of supporting our economic policy. We are in a global economy, so you have laid the foundation to empower the citizens of PNG, in all sectors of business to contribute meaningfully,” he said.
“Also, you are giving guidance and direction to the people so that they know how they can contribute so thank you minister.”
