MP referred to public prosecutor for alleged misconduct in office

AN allegation of misconduct in office case against Huon-Gulf MP  is now before Public Prosecutor Pondros Kaluwin for determination.
This comes after an Ombudsman Commission investigation.
“The referral is in the hands of the public prosecutor who has the discretion to bring or decline to bring proceedings under the Leadership Code for alleged misconduct in office in accordance with section 177 (1) (b) of the Constitution,” Chief Ombudsman Richard Pagen and Ombudsman Kevin Kepore said in a joint statement.
“The commission investigated the alleged misconduct in office by Seymour, which arises from breaches of his duties and responsibilities of office as required under section 27 of the Constitution and section 4 of the Organic Law on the Duties and Responsibilities of Leadership.
“As required by section 20 (2) of the Organic Law on the Duties and Responsibilities of Leadership, the commission has notified Seymour of its intention to refer the matter to the public prosecutor.”
The commission said it was satisfied that there was a prima facie case against Seymour.
