SOUTH Bougainville MP Timothy Masiu has taken the District Development Authority board to the people by holding its meeting at the Bana High School.
It gave the grassroots people the opportunity to witness how the board went about its business.
Masiu said the third and fourth meetings of the board this year would be held in Torokina and Siwai.
He said by taking the DDA out to the districts and the people, “we are educating them to understand the processes and systems of government”.
Masiu told the people that despite the lack of funding, he was determined to move forward with support from friends and partners.
“There is a need for us to be self-reliant economically, so we must make sacrifices at times,” he said.
“Let’s turn our resources into classrooms, let us turn our resources into roads and hospitals and not scare investors away.”
Masiu informed the board members of impending visits by overseas business people and potential investors.
