HEAD teachers and school boards in Central have been challenged by Central Governor Kila Haoda to produce more quality students.

Haoda’s call comes after the first batch of 20 pioneer students prepare to travel to Malaysia for studies under a scholarship programme.

Haoda said Central lacked graduates and urged head teachers to give him the best of what they can produce so that they would be eligible for the scholarship. “Schools play an important role in the development of our human resources,” he said.

Haoda said Central had for years gone down in terms of infrastructure and human resource development.

He told the students, parents, education and provincial officials that the challenge for the people of Central today is to progress by embracing changes.

Haoda said another 30 students from the province would be awarded scholarships to study in Indonesia.

“Secondary schools now seriously need to take the lead and provide the scholarship programme with competent students to undergo studies overseas.

“Investing in our children’s education is the best way to rebuild Central, our province.

“Education is fundamental to the development of our human resources.”
