MP vows to keep supporting tertiary students

Education

Nipa-Kutubu MP Jeffery Komal assures students from his electorate in Southern Highlands that he will continue to assist those in tertiary institutions.
Addressing final-year students of the University of PNG at a function at Parliament House recently, Komal said: “Education will be the priority for the Nipa-Kutubu electorate.
“The Nipa Technical College and Teachers College is a milestone achievement within the last five years and I believe this government will still continue to support and feed the education sector because the government in its plan, doesn’t want one of the five most important policies to die.
“During my term in the last five years, I have initiated a school fee assistance scheme (Komal Foundation Scheme) and had assisted all the students studying at various technical schools, colleges and universities throughout the country.”
Komal said he would continue to support parents in the next five years.
He assured the 13 students that he would pay their graduation and gown fees in full.
“I will continue to pay for the fees because I want to develop the human resource in Nipa-Kutubu so that you can go back and develop the electorate,” Komal said.
University of Papua New Guinea Nipa-Kutubu students’ association president Gilson Rex acknowledged the MP’s support, saying it relieved their parents and sponsors in these crucial times.
