MPs are not logistic officers
The National, Thursday October 17th, 2013
I AM against politicians presenting themselves as logistic officers of statutory institutions purchasing and handing over vehicles. One such department is the police force. Why purchase cars, uniforms, computers, firearms, etc for the police? The Royal PNG Constabulary has its own logistics division where it keeps a record of all materials issued to stations nationwide and makes annual budgetary requests to support their operations. I do not see the point of local MPs serving as logistic officers. I hope they are not using taxpayers’ money to buy support for the police. It is frustrating to see MPs becoming treasury clerks and logistics or procurement officers instead of being legislators.
