I WAS so saddened and disappointed by the outcome of the Vote of No Confidence (VONC) IN Prime Minister Peter O’Neill on Friday.
I was hoping for our leaders to show maturity in their decision and was expecting them to vote with their conscience to elect a new Prime Minister who would start rebuilding the country after it had been torn apart with student protests, bloodshed and shutdown of our premier university.
This was the perfect opportunity our leaders had to do the right thing for the country; to bring the people together, heal them and unite them under the constitution as one country and one people. Instead, they again abandoned and betrayed the trust of the people and allowed them to remain divided and hurt.
We have been taking one step forward and two steps backward but this is a major step further backward.
This is reaffirming why PNG is known to the world as one of the most corrupt countries.
This is a very sad moment. I can’t make myself understand what has become of the conscience of leaders of this country.
No person in the right frame of mind would argue about political stability as the reason because the country is already unstable under the leadership of Peter O’Neill.
Has commonsense also deserted our leaders?
We are now paying the price for allowing most of our leaders to get elected through bribery, cheating, manipulation and vote rigging.
Vote all of them out in 2017 elections and make sure none of them get themselves elected through bribery, cheating, and vote rigging.
These leaders are a disgrace to this country with no great purpose and vision for the country except becoming overnight millionaires.
Let’s all stand united in the fight against corruption and bad leadership in the coutnry.
