THE six opposition members who joined the Government on Tuesday will be allocated seats in Parliament today, says Leader of Government Business Rainbo Paita.
Paita, who is also Communications and Energy Minister and Finschaffen MP, told The National yesterday that he was “still in talks with the Speaker (Job Pomat) on the sitting arrangements” but the six had already been allocated seats on the government side of the house.
“For the People’s National Congress (PNC) Party, there are currently 21 members still in the Government.”
“There is no clear indication if they will be moving to the Opposition, so the seats for the Opposition side of the house is yet to be finalised. We will do that once we know who is or will be moving to the Opposition,” he said.
Paita also said that there would be two middle benchers in Parliament today.
He also said that more National Alliance (NA) party members would be joining the Government in the lead up towards Independence Day.
“It’s all about likeminded leaders, aligning together to achieve the Government’s goal.”
“So this is not really about which party you come from but about finding a common ground by bringing in like-minded leaders who have the country at heart.”
