MINERAL Resource Development Company (MRDC) presented its 2018 audited financial statements to Prime Minister James Marape on Friday following public criticisms on matters relating to project benefits for landowners.
MRDC board chairman Isaac Lupari said the clean and unqualified report would be tabled at the company’s shareholders meeting.
“The board and management have been questioned about the status of the audit and the presentation on Friday shows the tireless effort they had put into it” he said.
“MRDC has been criticised on various matters relating to project benefits for landowners but the result of audited report is clean.”
Lupari said they would expect an audited report of the company’s financial statement by June and the 2020 and 2021 reports at the end of the year.
He said the 2018 report should indicate where the company stood, how they had been managing the assets. “The 2018 report confirms that the K6 billion asset company is capable to demonstrate proper governance and accountability.”
