Mt Hagen improving

Letters

THE launching of Mt Hagen by-laws last Friday is restoring normalcy and signs of peace and good order to the city.
These efforts were made possible by the provincial government by allocating 20 per cent of its internal revenue to Mt Hagen City Authority to enforce the laws, clean and stop street vending among others.
The local police were allocated new vehicles replacing the aging fleets and also custom-built land cruisers through Governor Wai Rapa’s office for daily patrols.
The combine efforts in combating lawlessness and taking the city back from street thugs and criminals is paying off.
When the people are off the streets, the authorities will start satellite markets for small-medium enterprises and village farmers as an alternative to the street vending that was banned.
This is the first successful take back of our city and there is more in place for the city authority to deliver.
To our regular visitors, both international and domestic, pleasae do come and witness these changes for yourself.
Most importantly, plan and budget to visit Mt Hagen Cultural Show in August and you will be glad and surprise at the cleanliness and orderly presentation of the city and the main market, best known for organically grown fruits, nuts and vegetables for everyone to enjoy.
