Mum dreads prospect of being evicted

WITH a lot of development taking place in Port Moresby, a mother of four says she will eventually have to pull down her home at Morata and move elsewhere.
Rebecca Aima, from Lufa in Eastern Highlands, followed her husband Kay to Port Moresby 18 years ago.
Kay came to Port Moresby 27 years ago and ended up working for SP Brewery at Badili.
Since then, he made a home for Rebecca and their family.
“I came down (from Eastern Highlands to Port Moresby) to look for work,” Kay said.
“After a week, I went looking for a job and got employed at the SP Brewery at Badili.
“We have four children, three male and a female.”
Regarding an eviction taking place in  Morata over the last week, Rebecca said: “I am lucky for now, but very soon authorities will come and ask me to move out of their way.
“The houses you see being pulled down at Top Street (a section at Morata) is only for road construction.
“Many houses will still come down, including mine.
“I hear there will be a big development happening here at Morata.
“I am dreading when and how soon I might be asked to leave, give way for development.”
