Police told the court that Emmanuel Kimala, 27 from Wabag Central’s Teremanda village in Enga, was alleged to have murdered a third-year student of the University of Technology.

He also told Kimala in court that if he wanted bail, a proper bail application had to be made for the court to decide whether or not to give him bail.
The court also noted that police had completed the record of interview with Kimala.
The initial police report alleges that Kimala fatally stabbed the student with a bayonet-type knife on his back whilst in the company of six friends at Tapi Club, East Taraka, on April 6.
Police told the court that after allegedly causing the offence, Kimala and his six friends left Tapi Club and went to Skyline Lodge at Kapiak Street, One-Mile, where they caused nuisance and a fight broke out there.
Police were called in and Kimala was arrested put in the cell and charged with one count of murder.
Meanwhile, Kimala also faces a charge of being in possession of an offensive weapon and being drunk and disorderly.
In a previous mention of the two charges, Kimala told a magistrate that he is a student of an institution in the Western Highlands capital, Mt Hagen.
For the latter two alleged offences, the court will make a ruling today (Monday, April 15) while the murder charge will return to court on May 10.
