A SUSPECT, who allegedly murdered a man from Vunaulul ward in Kokopo’s Raluana local level government (LLG) area in East New Britain in July, took his homemade gun to Kokopo police on Monday and surrendered.
He was arrested and charged with murder, locked up in the police cell and expected to appear before the Kokopo District Court next week.
Provincial police commander Chief Insp Joseph Tabali said the suspect, Apelis William, 25, was from Vunamurmur ward, also in the Raluana LLG.
He said on July 3 between 8pm and 11.30pm, Neville Micah, from Vunaulul ward, was confronted by William while walking to his house.
William, he said, grabbed a tree branch and allegedly hit Micah very hard on the head, leaving him unconscious on the ground.
William then escaped.
Micah died on Sunday after two months in hospital.
