Murders, kidnap on the rise in Lae

AS a Lae resident, the recent unrest was one of the worst.
It has been more than three weeks since the riot reached its climax and what we are experiencing now is a string of murders, attempted murders and kidnappings.
This is the current situation in Lae, even though the government, different peace groups and policemen are out finding solutions to restore peace and order.
It is interesting that most of the post-riot murders, attempted murders and kidnappings of community leaders and travellers at night have not been reported in the media and yet the number is increasing with each passing day.
On Nov 18, as I was travelling home in a truck with several people at about 11pm, we saw a corpse of a young man dumped near the Bumbu Bridge bus stop.
It is like living in a nightmare in Lae.
I urge all Christians to fast and pray that things return to normal as soon as possible.
I challenge the police deployed not to take sides and try to win the hearts of the people instead of bullying them.
Road checks along the Highlands Highway must not be relaxed until normalcy is restored.
The fear is this could be a lull before the mother of all storms break out.
Other centres in PNG must treat the situation in Lae seriously because your home town may be the next.
