CENTRAL police are investigating two murders related to domestic violence reported over the festive season in Brown River, Kairuku and Kemabolo in Rigo.
Central police commander Chief Insp Tapp Opai said a Central man was arrested and detained for stabbing his wife to death in a domestic argument at Brown River on Dec 24 last year.
He said the body of the deceased woman, from the East New Britain, was taken to the Port Moresby General Hospital and placed in the morgue.
Chief Insp Opai said a young man in his 20s also died after he was allegedly hit on the head with a bottle.
He said the suspect in the killing was expected to be arrested soon.
He said Central police arrested and detained a total of 29 suspects on charges related to drink and disorderly behaviour over the festive period.
Chief Insp Opai said despite the killings, Central police carried out their duties maintaining peace and order in the province.
He thanked his members for their effort and also thanked the people of Central for maintaining peace in their villages and communities.
Meanwhile, police personnel from Beat Unit and Buimo Road Police (Bundi Camp) conducted a foot patrol at the back of Buimo road and confiscated two homemade guns and bullets on Dec 30.
Police said all suspects were in police custody awaiting their court dates.
