Murphy brings experience to Nasfund

MICHAEL Francis Murphy, pictured, is a new member of the board of Trustee for National Superannuation Fund Ltd (Nasfund).
Murphy was appointed to the board on July 11 as an additional independent director.
He is a qualified actuary, with over 40 years of superannuation consulting experience with Aon, Mercer and Australian Mutual Provident Society (AMP) and has more than 15 years’ experience on superannuation trustee boards in both Australia and PNG.
Murphy’s actuarial and superannuation consulting career included almost 10 years with Mercer, two years at AMP and 28 years at Aon, and most recently, as an Asia/Pacific Partner.
He was a trustee director of the Aon Master Trust in Australia for 14 years (2003-2017), chaired both its investment committee and insurance committee and was also a member of its audit and finance committee and operational risk and compliance committee.
Murphy was also a trustee director of the Aon Master Trust (PNG) from 2007 to 2018, chaired its audit committee and was a member of its investment committee.
He is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a member of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia’s superannuation practice committee’s legislation committee.
Nasfund board chairman Charles Vee said Murphy brought to the board, a wealth of experience and expertise especially in the superannuation industry.
Vee said he looked forward to working with Murphy to advance the best interests of the Nasfund membership.
