MENDI Muruks will look to avoid defeat and seal the minor premiership when they host Gulf Isou in the final round of the Digicel Cup regular season at the Lae Rugby League Ground on Sunday (3pm kick-off).
Round 17 will kick off with the final home game for West New Britain’s Kimbe Cutters as they prepare to host Hela Wigmen at Sir Peter Humphrey Oval on Saturday (2pm). Initially scheduled as hosts in Minj, Mt Hagen Eagles will now play their home game against second-placed Rabaul Gurias at the Santos National Football Stadium in Port Moresby on Sunday (1pm).
The Eagles-Gurias match has been scheduled as the second match of a triple-header in Port Moresby with Port Moresby Vipers and Goroka Lahanis kicking off the action at 11am.
The main match will see sixth-placed Central Dabaris host Enga Mioks, who occupy the fifth spot, at 3.30pm. The Lae Rugby League Ground will host a double-header on Sunday as the Tigers host Waghi Tumbe at 12.30pm, followed by the Muruks-Isou match.
“I would like to thank naming rights sponsor Digicel and platinum sponsor South Pacific Brewery for supporting the semi-professional rugby league competition,” Papua New Guinea National Rugby League Competition manager Ora Gairo said.
Gairo thanked airline partners PNG Air and Air Niugini, as well as accommodation partners and support sponsors Moni Plus and Peuna for their continued support to the competition despite the season being impacted by the general election.
