THE National Museum and Arts Gallery has launched its four-year (2019-2023) corporate plan with the aim to preserve cultures and heritage and to rehabilitate and upgrade the museum.
Director Dr Andrew Moutu said the new goals and strategies in the plan would set a clear direction for the institution’s.
“We have a clear goal to rehabilitate and develop the museum,” he said. “To do this we must have effective governance and this plan is the foundation needed to achieve that vision in the coming years.
“One of the main goals of the new plan is that the museum becomes an educational hub. We will be focusing on how we can best present the county’s strong culture and heritage to the world.”
He said the work of improving the National Museum and Arts Gallery began seven years ago.
They are slowly achieving that with the help of the Government and sponsors such as the Australian and Japanese governments.
“We embarked on a journey seven years ago to try and rehabilitate and recapture what was a dysfunctional and dilapidating museum,” Moutu said.
