 WEST New Britain has launched its Integrated Provincial Development Plan in the province.

Governor Sasindran Muthuvel and Minister for National planning Charles Abel launched the plan on Monday.

The plan covers five years to 2017 and is in line with MTDP 2011-2015 and the Vision 2050.

Muthuvel said to effectively deliver services to the majority of the population, government systems and processes and delivery mechanisms had to be strengthened.

“It has to be sound so that it has the confidence of our people,” he said.

He said in the next four year, the plan would focus on;

l Developing policies that will drive sector development;

l Maintenance and rehabilitation of all infrastructures to a serviceable standard;

l Empower and sustain the livelihoods of the people of WNB by rolling out identified and prioritised sector programmes;

l Strengthening the public service machinery through implementation of IPDP and Corporate plan.

Muthuvel said critical enablers of Vision 2050 had become the provincial focus for the tenure of the IPDP.

He said the provincial goal was for WNB people to have an improved sustainable quality of life and also build foundations for prosperity.

He also thanked Abel for selecting WNB to launch the electronic identification system for the country.
