ALL compulsory third party (CTP) vehicle claims will now be conducted by regional offices and not only in Port Moresby, according to the Motor Vehicle Insurance Ltd (MVIL).
Managing director Michael Makap said in Port Moresby on Friday that it’s Mt Hagen and Goroka offices were opened to deal with 70 per cent of claims that came from the Highlands Highway.
MVIL now has about 6,000 ongoing claims it is dealing with nationwide.
“This arrangement will be a relief for those who in the past were required to travel into Port Moresby in order to pursue their CTP claims with MVIL,” Makap said.
“The new arrangement is such that the regional office will become the primary centres for handling claim matters while the branches in the provincial capitals will be the extension of claims services.
“These branches and sub branches will be serviced by customer services officers with the support of senior officers and team leaders who will be stationed in MVILs regional offices.”
Makap said Lae and Kokopo would also deal with claims for the Momase and New Guinea Islands regions.
For the Autonomous Region of Bougainville, Makap said MVIL had branches in Buka, Arawa and Buin to deal with claims.
Makap said the legal turnaround time for dealing with claims was six months.
