REGULAR training on safety is important for the National Airports Corporation (NAC) to ensure planes take off and land safely at airports.
The NAC said this was one its top priorities.
NAC staff, from the safety and regulatory compliance division, recently completed two trainings on safety management and root cause analysis.
The training focused on strengthening competencies in safety assurance and regulatory compliance at airports.
The training was conducted by an external facilitator, John Pottinger, project consultant from Pottinger Aviation Consulting, who was engaged through the civil aviation development investment programme.
The safety management training covered modules of safety concepts, design and implementation of safety concepts, history of safety management, safety management system and implementation.
The training enhanced NAC staff’s knowledge on the safety concepts, design and implementation of safety management system in the organisation to meet the safety standard of PNG Civil Aviation rule part 100.
The training included learning about several tools and methods of analysis to identify root causes of incidents and occurrences.
