Nali: Dept’s equipment for communal use

WORKS and Implementation Minister Michael Nali has told Parliament that any equipment the department has is for communal use.
He was responding to questions by Wewak MP Kevin Isifu on equipment being moved across to West Sepik from East Sepik. Isifu sought answers on the transfer of equipment and the criteria used by Works Department in issuing contracts to firms.
Nali explained that equipment could be utilised anywhere if needed.
He said the department issued two sets of contracts; pro former for emergency jobs (below K500,000) and tenders which were below K10 million.
Isifu then raised the issue of contractors not having the capacity to be awarded contracts.
Nali said he was not aware of any company without capacity.
