Namah files another challenge

OPPOSITION Leader and Vanimo-Green MP Belden Namah in his first order of business after having his suspension from office lifted in court has refiled the case challenging the election of James Marape as Prime Minister.
The case was filed on July 20 in the Supreme Court and will be heard on Aug 10.
Namah said he hoped the case would be expedited to set the precedence for future governments.
“As one of my first duties, I have now refiled the Supreme Court application challenging the election of James Marape as prime minister on May 30 last year,” Namah said.
“That case has now been filed and sealed and I am now looking forward to the first directions hearing which is scheduled for Aug 10 this year.
“I hope we can expedite this case so that we set the precedence for our future leaders, the future parliaments and our future generations.
“This is a very unique circumstance where there has been three nominations. My job now is to ensure that a precedence is set for future governments and future elections in the event where there are three nominations.
“I want to make sure as the leader of the Opposition that the law as to the voting on the floor of Parliament is tested.
“As you know, on May 30 last year, there were three nominees and as far as I’m concerned in my term in politics, that was the first time it had ever happened that there were three prime ministerial candidates.
“In the preceding events, one of the candidates, Peter O’Neill, withdrew his nomination and I think that his withdrawal was unconstitutional.”
Namah said he believed the nomination of a candidate meant it was no longer his possession and was the possession of Parliament and a withdrawal needed to be subject to a Parliamentary vote.
He said neither the candidate nor the Speaker had the unilateral powers to withdraw the nomination.
“Hence my court challenge is to the constitutionality of the election of James Marape as prime minister.”
The Opposition Leader has also announced that the People’s Nationals Congress (PNC) Party had affirmed its support for him.
He thanked his supporters.

  • Can you also do the same for the declaration of Southern Highlands Regional?
The governor elect was said to be declared under special circumstances as he was leading at that time and with reasons only known to the EC officials, the current governor was declared. They used the term “Under special circumstances”.
What if in the future when a candidate leads a polling race during counting and he/she or any of his/her supporters blow up the counting center and do something to the people doing the counting? There will be unnecessary causalities and more problems will arise.
That was a bad precedence set by the electoral commission and it needs to be corrected before the next election.
This is a special call to any of the MPs or Opposition Leader (BM). Please do something about the above and make correction to it before its too late.

  • I think the LLB MP has done something better for PNG. He can storm the court house and run to court anytime because he is supreme

  • Mr B Namah is NOT looking into the case just to set the precedence for future generations as he barked.
    NO, Not at all.
PNG knows who B Namah is-A POWER HUNGRY BARKING DOG WITH NO TEET WHO SOLD HIS OPPORTUNITY TO HIS ON AND OFF PARTNER IN CRIMES, PETER O’NEIL in 2013 Vote-of-no-Confidence!

  • Give the PM seat to him already please.
Is there anything he can do for this nation apart from pursuing the PM seat for almost all his entire career as politician?

  • Can Vanimo Green bring up how many projects Mr. BN has delivered so far? He is still wasting his valuable time going in and out of court every week for the last 15 years..

  • PM JM was wise and he his trying his best to bring PNG back to make it a better png while past prime minister already distory us at all. So MR. BN just withdraw the case and wait for 2022 election only.

There must be good and bad, all styles of politicians so future leaders/politicians can learn from.

  • We are not interested in political games but we wait for when to get all the services we want from all our elected MPs in all provinces and districts, I don’t think our MPs felt guilty when flying overseas and see the living their while cheating us and giving our resources to the foreigners for their own advantages. Enough of political games and do want is best for us.

  • Mr B Namha, I think you have done enough in your district and now you want to do it for the nation. If not, why you wasting your time and wasting the development funds for the people Vanimo Green on these unnecessary court cases instead of spending more time and resources in your on district within these remaining periods of one and half years before the next election?
