Namatanai gears up for boxing meet

The Namatanai district of New Ireland is gearing up for the National Boxing Championships in Arawa, Autonomous Region of Bougainville from Sept 5-9.
Namatanai Boxing Association president Len Meli said his executive were working hard to get boxing right across the district.
Meli said the team comprised former boxers, who were looking to get into the provincial team.
Namatanai has 10 clubs and the association is looking at expanding to Anis and Tanga Island. Meli said the team had been in good form and slowly gaining momentum.
Meli said his association was seeking financial support from business houses in Kavieng and Namatanai to enable them to attend the championships.
He encouraged interested individuals to support the code which could provide the youth with training and development that would help them focus on a healthy and disciplined life style.
