Namatanai sees increase in business activities

THE town of Namatanai in New Ireland has seen an increase in business activities in the past three years.
Also, the influx of Asians setting up their businesses there has posed a big challenge to locals to compete with the foreigners.
Dalnan Sales and Service Ltd, a subsidiary business arm of the Dalnan Investment Ltd, is one of the local companies currently taking on this challenge.
Last year, it established a mini mart and a stationery and computer showroom in the heart of the town.
The business has been doing well.
Managing director Torwarpin Burso set up the business after noticing the demand for such services by the people of Namatanai.
The company has also established a new fully-furnished air-conditioned internet café which will be managed by Trevor Kamaga.
Kamaga said the internet café would be a bonus to the people.
An in-house training for its staff has been conducted to familiarise them with the use of the machines when serving customers.
The company has also thanked Digicel PNG for a good service network that has enabled local businesses to venture into such initiatives.
