FOUR trainee directors have been appointed to the Nambawan Super Board.
They are Thomas Constantinou, Michelle Taumpson, Josephine Pitmur and Sylvester Banibia.
Nambawan Super chairman Reg Monagi said the four would be the fund’s second cohort to participate in the two-year development programme.
“We are pleased that our second cohort of trainee directors are primarily from the public sector, and will also have experience as contributing members of the fund,” he said.
“The fund’s trainee director programme is designed to identify and develop a pool of aspiring directors who will be ready to proceed to company directorship roles in PNG’s financial sector. Participating in the programme exposes trainee directors to roles and responsibilities of directors and boardroom dynamics helping build confidence and skills needed to contribute and lead at board level.”
Monagi said there were many young local professionals aspiring to become industry leaders through directorship roles promoting good governance and high ethical standards.
“The private sector and the nation in general are faced with a scarcity of directors who possess the appropriate skills, knowledge and behaviours, and our trainee director programme was created to help fill this void.”
The group will end their training in April.
