Names not on common roll

Letters

SOME citizens who have lived for years and for the last six months in various wards and local level governments will sadly miss out on polls due to missing names on common roll.
My name was just recently updated some months ago in Ward 2, Pobuma LLG, Manus, however, it is not on the list.
When asked, the only response was “the problem with the data entry”.
I don’t know what software were they using to enter the data.
The list must be rechecked and finalised six months prior to the election and not after the names have been finalised on the roll during the eve of election.
Electoral Commission Manus should advise its officers to do their work correctly and not to be corruptly politicised as we all have the democratic rights of choosing our leaders to represent us in the parliament.
This had happened in the previous elections and it needs to be addressed in order to avoid inconveniences in the future.
