LAE city lord mayor James Khay and Metropolitan Commander Iven Lakatani were assured they would receive their full budgetary allocations shortly by Governor Kelly Naru yesterday.

Naru told the two officials that funds were already in the provincial government coffers and respective allocations would be disbursed starting next week.

“We have the money and my office will start dishing out your funds next week,” Naru said.

Naru also assured Lakatani of six new vehicles for the six council wards in the city as part of Morobe provincial government’s community policing initiative in city communities.

According to Khay, the respective councillors in collaboration with Lae police, will identify and recruit a number of suitable persons from the wards to be trained and enlisted as reservists.

The reservists will be assisted with a vehicle each and a firearm to police their respective communities.
